Landscape scale biodiversity net gain initiative in Northumberland generating over 480 biodiversity units for sale.

  • Overview

    Located close to an existing network of nature reserves in the Druridge Bay landscape, this scheme will see the restoration of species-rich grasslands, woodlands, and hedgerows where nature can thrive.

    The scheme sits within the Northumberland County Council LPA and across the Mid Northumberland and South-East Northumberland Coastal Plain NCAs. 

    The legal agreement for this scheme is currently in development.

  • Developers can secure biodiversity units for the following habitat types:

    • Lowland meadows of very high distinctiveness
    • Lowland mixed deciduous woodland of high distinctiveness
    • Grassland of medium distinctiveness
    • Heathland and shrub of medium distinctiveness
    • Species-rich native hedgerow with trees – associated with bank or ditch of very high distinctiveness
    • Species-rich native hedgerow with trees of high distinctiveness
